Date: 2013-09-12 12:19 pm (UTC)(Of course, one of my coworkers just sent an invitation to his birthday party that Friday evening. Decisions, decisions. Well, it's easier to get to Children's Book World, anyway. And it's my ex-neighbor's favorite bookstore.)
I don't know what your plans are around the edges this schedule, but you're always welcome at my house. We would be happy to feed you (but probably not cake) and we have a guest room.

Date: 2013-09-13 02:06 am (UTC)Why did I do this to myself.
Also, random memory.... I had just read Winter Prince and was totally in love with it and was looking up random stuff to do with it online, I found your blog and was just looking through your profile and such, and I happened to look at your icons and I was like... OMG SHE IS A LORD PETER FAN. I KNEW SHE WAS AWESOME.
It made my day :-).
And then a couple weeks later you somehow found and read my blog and commented on it, and made my day AGAIN.
Now I'm just trying to make myself feel better for not being able to go to LA. *sigh*

Date: 2013-09-14 06:49 pm (UTC)Edward Fox
Date: 2013-09-22 12:44 am (UTC)It was absolutely fabulous to meet you, if only briefly, at Children's Book World this afternoon. I hope I get the chance again in future. Your reflections on your research process gave me a lot to think about.
I finally remembered the early Edward Fox film I was thinking of as we drove away. I've seen it twice in the last six months and I can't understand why the title was temporarily unavailable to my mental database: The Day of the Jackal. He plays a ruthless assassin, but Fred Zinnemann does a fabulous job of making the process so intriguing you end up -- in some part of your soul that it's hard to admit to having -- wanting him to succeed. The movie has some other great performances including a bit turn by a very young Derek Jacobi.
Verity and Rose are fabulous and touching books. Kudos and I am so glad you made it to our neighborhood.
Best,
Anmiryam
