okay, all you Fullmetal Alchemist addicts, my children are now out on the patio trying to fill a transmutation circle with bugs. They're sitting crosslegged, facing each other over their chalk drawing.
Mark: NO, SARA, if you do that all the bugs will come!
Sara: It's okay, Mark, we can easily make them go away again. All right, are you ready? Three. Two. One.
In unison--excuse me, WHEN EXACTLY DID THEY PRACTICE THIS?--they clap their hands and slap them down into the circle.
Mummy: Oh, thank goodness, it didn't work. Maybe you didn't draw your transmutation circle properly. Get on with it, I have to go unpack the groceries.
EEYAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Meanwhile, Tim is away on his office summer outing, giving joyrides to all his workmates in a Beechcraft Sundowner (whatever that is) which he flew for the first time this morning.
EEYAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
It is sometimes scary being married to Tim. Has anyone out there read The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger? It is like that, sometimes. You don't know where he's going and you don't know when he'll be back and you hope he's safe.

Date: 2005-06-09 12:39 pm (UTC)(This seems to have much less of a potential for injury than when my friends and I discovered The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and spent a semester trying to fly by throwing ourselves at the ground and missing. Not that we really believed we'd succeed, being worldy in the sixth grade, but we didn't always manage to stop our falls.)

Date: 2005-06-13 02:40 am (UTC)The after-school club is not as great as it sounds, though--it's just organized day care, alas; they didn't form it themselves. Sorry to disillusion you!

Re: Can I forward this?
Date: 2005-09-16 02:07 am (UTC)sure, go ahead and pass it along. I reckon anything I put up here is public by nature of its being a blog anyway. My children are still obsessed...My crazed daughter, now 8, has been planning for the last four months to be Edward Elric for Halloween (and the funny thing is... she looks like Ed). She's read the manga, too.
ah, the corrupted youth of today.
