The pattern for the sweater dates to the 1940s... not sure when. I blame tiboribi for putting me onto this excellent method of procrastination.

I think it's fabulous. And don't dye your hair hair. Maybe you could find a blonde wig? I would guess Halloween stores are less common over there than they are here.

I second the wig. Even fairly cheap ones aren't terribly annoying for a short period of time, and have the advantage that you can have a lot more hair than you usually would.

And once you have it, you keep discovering uses for it. 'Oh hey, my Mrs. Frizzle wig would also work to be Vesper Holly' . . . 'and it's just right to wear to be Sarah complaining that she looks like a Weasley' . . .

Great sweater! I am almost inspired enough to drag out my own needles and thread. Maybe when the temperature around here drops twenty or thirty degrees (f).

yes, the problem with knitting is that you never want to do it when it's hot, and then you can never finish it in time to wear it when it's cold.

fortunately it is 59 F all year round in scotland.
