From a letter from Penguin Young Readers Group addressed to Elizebeth [sic] Wein:
"Dear Constance Leeds,
I am sorry to report that due to a decrease in sales and a lack of demand over the past year, we find it necessary to reduce and sell off our overstock of inventory of THE SUNBIRD."
The Sunbird has been available in hardback for nearly 6 years, so I'm not complaining about the remainder notice. But I swear swear swear to God I would not be so bitter and twisted if they would address my letters TO ME and not some randomer.
Also, if they ever gave me more than about 5 days to put the order in before their remainder deadline. This letter was sent to my agent's previous employer and forwarded twice to get to me. The deadline for ordering is 5 Feb. The letter is dated 15 Jan. That's not a lot of injury time.
LET'S TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE! Maddie is delivering a Spitfire to Scotland. Julie is doing an interview for some made-up newspaper in Chicago. Oh, and I have just finished the second draft of the work-for-hire novel. What larks!

Good luck, Constance! Be perfit, be constant, be a good lead!
