I wonder if he has a private office, with the desk that is actually messy, and the Oval Office is for more official things. Certainly you don't want visiting reporters to see piles of paperwork.

no, I was too chicken! but I have a new idea--I'm going to send them to the girls' school. With a note.

I *did* send them, I wrote to the middle school librarian at Sidwell Friends and asked her if they would like a set and she said yes. So. A bit more subtle an approach, I suppose, but maybe they'll reach a few more kids this way.
