Ha! Freshman year of college, my roommate and I would email each other from across the room. This was back in the day when you dialed up, sent and received your email all at once, and the program signed you off again as soon as that was done, so it took about five minutes per message.

my children don't use dial-up, mercifully, but they do email each other from across the room. i say again, sheesh.
