The MetOffice predicts

"TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE HIGH 20S, LOCALLY 30C"

86 F!!!!!!

I know that it makes people fall over in the street and I shouldn't laugh. But I still find it very funny. I will never get over it being 102 F when I left Philadelphia last summer and 52 F when I arrived in Glasgow the next morning.

I must admit I enjoy it. We were sitting out on the patio last night at 10. p.m. (in our sweaters) and we realized that not ONCE last summer had it been warm enough to sit on the patio that late. I get up in the morning and go, "Ahhhh... it feels like southern England!" I swear, it is the frozen wastes up here.

That's the direction to go, all right. Though this must have been the coolest June in Philadelphia of my lifetime-- we haven't had the air conditioner on once. Very thunderstormy.

My mother's hair was completely white by the time she was 23. I was born when she was 27, and never saw it when it was dark. All her 6 siblings save one have white hair. (Last one was salt-and-pepper since high school)

Isn't genetics bizarre?
