E.T.A: He's Emeric Pressburger's grandson? I didn't know he had any! Now I'm inclined to like him whether he screws up one of my childhood books or not!
My brain just exploded. Was just telling someone the other day about this novel - no one here's even heard of her anymore. And now a movie! Oh, boy! Movies are the Velveteen Rabbit of the world: they make everything real to most people. Grrr.
Oh, seconding that! I was recommending historical fiction for young people to someone the other day, and threw in and "of course there's Sutcliffe" at the end. It drew a "who?" Not quite as falbergasting as a similar conversation featuring a person wanting to hear about people who painted flowers and Georgia O'Keeffe -- but still!
