The BBC presents... MLK Jr on the possibility of a "negro president."

You just gotta give them credit for digging this stuff up. (So they're off by a year or two. So what.)

These guys are SO GOOD at making you feel like you're part of the action.

I mean, I found out about this in an email that they sent me. "Dear Elizabeth, Share your picture of history. Thank you, The Presidential Inaugural Committee." They just make you feel like they care that you're on board.

Greetings from the UK!

Sara forgot her glasses this morning. When I went out in the street to take them up to the school, I saw that she and Mark had been at work scraping the snow off the back of the car:

It's possible I won't make it to my previously announced Virtual Inaugural Ball time of 1.00 a.m. GMT. But here we are, anyway. Please stop by and celebrate with us!

This picture was taken moments after Obama's actual inauguration. Three of the people in this picture are American, but two of those also hold British passports; the others are English and Scottish and of various mixed heritage. Yes, the UK is DESPERATE FOR A CLAIM TO BARACK OBAMA!

Her Majesty the Queen sends her Message of Support!

Also, we are proud that Obama's stepmother, Kezia Obama, now lives in Britain (she's in DC for the ceremony, though).

But this is definitely my favorite…

What party is complete without party food? (No haggis today. That's next week.)

And if you missed it, here's the link to "This Land is Your Land" which closed the "We Are One" concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday.

I got the link via Terri Windling's blog, which is also worth reading. She writes:

"Here's a video I can't watch without tearing up: Pete Seeger (in his 90s now!) performing Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" with Bruce Springsteen and his grandson and a gospel choir in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Pete friggin' Seeger: the tireless labor and civil rights activist, blacklisted in the 1950s. Performing for a Presidential Inauguration. For an African-American president. Wow. (What must he be feeling at such a moment???) The world has shifted on its axis, and the song has never felt so true. From across the sea in cold, windy Devon, I'm very proud of my country today."

Me too.
