PSA

hello, I'm done. The written manuscript of The Sword Dance is now complete. I feel like it ought to be on vellum or something, but no, it's in a Staples Composition Book with a blue cardboard cover.

I don't know what the final word count is (or, indeed, if anyone cares). Suffice it to say that by the time I've finished typing it up, it will be well over 500 pages.

And I've already cut 40 pages from the beginning.

Ezra Pound, where are you when I need you! Come back, all is forgiven.

Another handwriter! I knew we were separated at birth.

Congrats on getting it all down. I'm very fond of composition books myself. There's something very satisfying about them

I think it's 'cause they're so iconic. Although they always remind me of Charlie Brown, for some reason. I feel like they're what Charlie Brown used to write in, hee hee.

Great. I look forward to it. Do you have a publishing schedule yet?

[identity profile] jongibbs.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
500 pages! I hope it's double-spaced ;)

Congratulations. It's a great feeling to finish a book.

I was just drifting :) Sometimes I look at friends' friends pages just to see what's going on about the place. I hope you don't mind my commenting.

I won't hold my breath, but finished is one step closer to "in my grubby little paws"

Congratulations! Yay! *\0/*

(I can't imagine writing a whole book in longhand, but I do that when I'm stuck on the computer.)

Huzzah! Now to get it through all those annoying intermediary steps between notebook and my hands. Maybe I can find a spare TARDIS lying around and grab one from the future. If I miscalculate and run into Mr Pound instead, I'll send him your way. ;)

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

[identity profile] rosaleeluann.livejournal.com 2009-03-19 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Excitement! Wonder! Joy!

So, when do I get to read it? ;-)

Congratulations! What are you doing to celebrate? Will you fly off somewhere and spend a week on a beach or in cottage or in a pulsing metropolis? Alone? With family? With girlfriends? (Hint, hint) Or did you already?

Congrats!

Last night, I had the pleasure of reading A Coalition of Lions. Given the beauty of your characters, their depth & drama, as well as the wholesome development which all to maintain their honor and dignity, I care to know you've completed another book. The Lion Hunter is on docket for tonight's read.

I loved Priamos. To know that you allowed him to be both strong & emotional is one of the greatest gifts you offer our world. This book is a rarity in the YA department. I'm glad someone had the wisdom to represent your work.

To your continued success. Cheers!
