the swifts are back!  the first I've heard this year!  I love them so much--they fly in little vics like fighter pilots, and scream their heads off.

They're such a sign of summer here, aren't they! We had a little flock of them overhead, the day before last. And the sand martins are back in the local greensand cliff colony. Sunshine, summer birds, (*breathes deeply with stupid smile on face*), blue sky, warmth, things growing in the garden, Yippee!

(and I'm glad you got through PiF without entirely buying up the local stock of paper hankies...)

Ours came back on May 2nd ... well, they may have come back on May 1 but I wasn't here. There are my favourite birds; the best summer evenings are the ones I spend sitting in the garden, watching them in flight.
