Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwah, envyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The real deal AND dancing! Lovely dress, too.

I was so happy at my one Burns Night in Cambridgeshire - introduced to Scottish Country Dancing by a fellow teacher whose father taught it (they came from Sheffield). I went to some courses in the evening in St. Ives and when Burns Night came around I got invited and they were SO PATIENT with the fact I couldn't remember the complicated movements, even as the steps of the strathspey and reel weren't that difficult themselves.

And they had real haggis, too! And later my teacher friend took me to Sheffield and her parents, whre they had a huge Ceilidh with highland fling and sword dance and stuff! I was so sad to find out that the Cambridge University Scottish dancing society was going into their term break when I finally found them.

I have to confess that although my university in Germany had a Scottish Country Dancing Society, I didn't keep it up when I returned. Maybe if I had a male partner who also was new to the whole thing, I wouldn't have felt so disruptive to their routine.
