the grandmother of one of my best friends just died this summer at 106. I said, "Gramma, now you have a goal--you have to outlive Vera!" She said, "Geez. I don't think I have the energy to last that long."

She does still have a lot of energy, though. And she has to make it to 100 so she can pay off her mortgage and we can have a party.
