oy vey! no, you didn't misread--at the end of "Fire" they trace Lleu via info re the dragon bracelets, and then it does say that Medraut uses them to ransom him. But consider that all that happens in the way distant future--Medraut does eventually find out, as does everybody, but not until 10 years have passed.

I'm purposefully downplaying his advanced age in what I'm writing now, to make him seem more like Telemakos's contemporary and foil.

technically Lleu and Goewin are 11 years older than Telemakos. So that means, if you can believe it, that Goewin is only 22 by the end of The Sunbird. I think she seems older because you see everything from T's point of view; eleven years is a much vaster gap between 11 and 22 than it is between 16 and 27.

Is this just a writing for fun that you're doing now? How often do you do that - write smaller pieces for character and relationship expansion? Its almost like actors doing improvised scenes to delve deeper into their character and relationship.

Goewin's young age is definitely stressed in Coalition of Lions, so it isn't too much of a step (for me) to still be aware of her youth in Sunbird. And for the time, by the age of 22 I'd assume people were pretty much living "adult lives." But definitely by today's standards... lol i'm like "Oh so you're essentially ruling a country ... I'm three years older than you and I still live with my mom."

I dunno if you can call anything I write "for fun" anymore. It's more like addiction. How often do I write smaller pieces for character expansion? well, never. But I do act stuff out in my head. It kind of amounts to the same thing. I wish I wrote more stuff that just wasn't intended for publication (or public reading). My notebooks are full of comments like, "Gee, I wish I could remember that conversation so-and-so had while I was sitting on the bus last week."

lol yourself... I keep meeting these 16-year-old kids (often close relations) and thinking to myself, "Hmmmm. High King of Britain? . . . nah."
