And seconding what cc_lemon said about the house - it's your place, and as long as it's comfortable and you can all find your shoes when you need them, that's plenty. (silkiemom is convinced there's a coalition of Perfect Moms in each neighborhood who judge her living room to be inferior. But I'm pretty sure she's paranoid.)
